I do love this place and these children. One of my favorite things about it here is that these kids know they are loved. Even though the missionaries come and go, each one leaves behind a legacy of love. One of the little preschoolers whom I have never actually met looked my way as her mom was picking her up. I smiled at her and to my surprise she ran over to me and threw her little arms around my knees. My heart melted. I hugged her back and told her thank you. She is loved here and she knows it.
Yesterday, I was playing a review game with my 3rd-6th graders. The game had them look up verses to help them find the answers. 95% of the kids in our programs do not come from Christian homes so I knew this would be a challenge for a lot of them. I made the mistake of flipping the card over before teaching them how to find the different books. The two girls next to me opened up the Bible and Ellis said to Eva... "Look in the E's! Look in the E's! No, no, you're in the G's!" Eva promptly responded, "This isn't a dictionary!"
Haha, it took everything in me not to loose it. I showed everyone the table of contents and they had a much easier time of finding the books after that.
We have been learning the names of God in that class and in turn learning about who God is. I am enjoying this study immensely. It is my daily prayer that these kids learn who God is and that they can trust in Him. They are asking some really great questions and are really curious. I love it.
Since I last posted we have had A LOT of new snow. We have shoveled and gone sledding and shoveled and skied and shoveled and played and shoveled and did I mention shovel? Hah, I was glad for the last few days of clear weather but I hear it is coming again tonight. It certainly makes this place beautiful. And of course lots of snow makes for some great skiing.
We are headed out tonight to hear a guy play from the Church at a local restaurant. I'm sure it will be some good time with the team. They are really great by the way. I'm glad each one of them is here.
That's all for now,
your sojourner
Oh yes, and today, I saw God in the arms of a four-year-old.
