I gave this to my students this week, thought I would share...
Here's 8 of my 38 kids->
My dear students,
Do you know that when I talk about you to my family or friends I call you my kids? There is a reason for this. It is because when I committed to be a missionary out here I committed to teach you about God. To me, that is the greatest thing I could ever teach anyone. So you are no longer just kids in my mind. You are MY kids. You are the children God has entrusted to me for a short time to teach you things that I am still learning. I set out on an endeavor this semester to teach you about who God is. A question you and I will continue to learn the answer to until the day we see Him face to face. Do you know how much He loves you? The God and creator of the universe absolutely adores you. And He does not just feel this way when you are good and kind but He feels this way all the time. He loves you with a love that cannot be contained. A love that is so great there are not enough words to fully describe it. The greatest picture we have of it is in the gift of His son. Many of you know the verse that says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." Another way to say it... "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again." And He did this because He LOVED us, because He wants us to have a relationship with Him. He cares for you and He will never stop caring. My prayer for each of you is that you will come to believe God is who He says He is. And that you will know, without a doubt that God is real and you can trust in Him and lean on Him at all times.
I love each of you,
Miss Hattie
